The MYSTERY Surrounding Izzy Herriette & Co...

My name is actually Ginger Renken and has been for many years. So, people who know me are a bit confused by this "Izzy" stuff. I guess it's time to explain!

I rather enjoyed the mystery and intrigue that accompanied using this name; apart from explanation. Well, here goes ...

In 1993, we had just completed what was to be our very first concert - the Lord's songs! I had a "company" of people with me, helping me to minister what the Lord had given.

A few days after the concert, I had gone to visit my grandmother and was on my way home. As I was driving and minding my own business, the Lord interrupted me to proclaim, "Ginger, I want you to change your name!" I sort of did one of those numbers where your eyes sway from left to right and your brows do a little dance above. I said, "Lord, what are you talking about?" He remarked back, "I said, I want you to change your name." Okay... He continued on, "I want you to change it to Izzy Herriette." I almost laughed. You know, I think I may have actually laughed. Then I heard Him say this, "No, No, No. Say it!" What? He said, "Say it!" Okay, Lord. Then He said, "No! Say it again. Now say it three times consecutively. Do you hear it?" Hear what? To which He answered back, "Is He Here Yet? Is He Here Yet? Did you get it?"

And this is how Izzy Herriette and Co originated!

When I arrived home that evening, tired and more than ready to join my family who had already retired, I heard a "loud" thumping in my spirit; in that place where He sings to me. I thought it sounded like "rap". Nah! Can't be! Then I heard Him say, "If you want to obey me, you can go get a pen and paper, and I do have something that I want to give to you - NOW!" Okay, again. Moments later, pen in hand, I received this "rap song". I think it's one of the most amazing songs that He's given me - although I believe that they are all nothing short of amazing - being that I can't make two lines rhyme!

My life is not my own
I live it for Him and Him alone
As much as it is up to me
Totally surrendered's what I want to be
I want all my days to be for Him
I'm givin' up my every passin' whim
I'm layin' down the things that I would have
That I might become His - Soul Salve
Spreadin' healing here and there
I'm lettin' my heart go out to care
Soul Salve is what we need
For the broken heart that continues to bleed
Soul Salve - stops the ache and pain
Soul Salve - you don't shoot it in your vein
Soul Salve - you don't drink it and drive
Soul Salve - makes you really come alive
Soul Salve - if you want to know more
Just know He's standin' right at your door
You can open up
You can let Him in
He'll love ya', He'll wash 'ya, Forgive 'ya all your sin
He's a lovin' God, now, He ain't mean
He's the most Beautiful thing you've seen
Now, you've got a lot to look forward to
'Cause He's 'gonna come and make 'ya brand new
If you give Him your heart today
All the old things will pass away
He's got Soul Salve
For what ales 'ya today
Soul Salve - will take your pain away
Give Him thanks
Come on and give Him praise
'Cause He's about to come
And change all your ways
The things 'ya thought were so important before
You're 'gonna find they just don't matter anymore
Things 'ya thought you couldn't live without
You're 'gonna find 'ya forgot what you was carin' all about

It's Soul Salve - I been tellin' you about
Soul Salve - Make me wanta' sing and shout
Soul Salve - Makes me know I'm alive
Soul Salve - Come on now and give me high five
It's down low
And we all know
That without Jesus
We wouldn't feel this 'glow'
Keepin' us warm inside and out
And makin' us wanta' go and you all about this...

Soul Salve
Is He here yet?
Watch and pray
Soul Salve
Is He here yet?
He's comin' your way
Soul Salve
Is He here yet?
Watch and pray
Soul Salve
Is He here yet?
Is He here yet?
Is He here yet?
He's comin' your way!

No further explanation required. So much for the "mystery and intrigue"! However, is He not the MOST and BEST? Oh, YES!

By the way, two of my children (ages 8 & 10 at the time) were invited to share this song with youth groups at camp. They absolutely loved it! (Both the hearers and the little performers!) God is SO GOOD!

IMPORTANT: Now, when you read each of the different blog titles, always use that: Izzy, as - 'Is He' - and see if you interpret the titles in a new way!
